Zii Jia off to flying start at the Asian Championships

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia got his Asian Championships campaign off to a flying start on Wednesday.

World No. 11 Zii Jia needed only 39 minutes to dispatch India's Priyanshu Rajawat 21-9, 21-13 in the first round at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre.

Zii Jia, who won the title two years ago after leaving the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), will face Taiwan's Chou Tien Chen next for a place in the quarter-finals.

Seasoned campaigner Tien Chen, barely broke a sweat as his first round opponent, Weng Hong Yang of China, withdrew after the first game due to injury.

Tien Chen won the first game 21-16.
