Xin Yee struts her stuff at National Under-18 Championships

KUALA LUMPUR: National junior shuttler, Ong Xin Yee, asserted her prowess at the Petronas National Under-18 Championships today by bagging both the girls' singles and doubles title at the Kedah BA Hall in Alor Star.

The Kuala Lumpur native, set to turn 18 in October, showcased her dominance by defeating her national teammate, Oo Shan Zi, 21-8, 21-11 in just 35 minutes.

After that, Xin Yee and Lim Zhi Shin claimed the girls' doubles crown by downing Clarissa San Yee Wen-Maisarah Ramdan 21-19, 13-21, 21-10.

"I'm thrilled to have clinched both titles. My aim for this year is to secure a medal at the upcoming Asian Juniors.

"I'm focused on enhancing my physical strength and the consistency of my shots," said Xin Yee.

In the mixed doubles final, Maisarah-Goh Yi Qin overcame Datu Anif Isaac Datu Asrah-Dania Sofea Zaidi 21-17, 21-17.

Meanwhile, unranked Roslie Razeeq Danial defied the odds by clinching the boys' singles title in a gripping three-game encounter against Ayu Fu Sheng, triumphing 21-17, 17-21, 21-8 in 53 minutes.

Maintaining Kelantan's presence in the spotlight, Wan Abdul Latif Hakimi Wan Abdul Khalid-Yusnunle Muhamad Dennes showcased their composure to secure the boys' doubles title.

Despite an initial setback, the Kelantan duo rallied to defeat their BAM opponents, Heng Zi Hin-Damien Ling Tang Le, in a hard-fought battle, ultimately prevailing 20-22, 21-18, 21-21.
