KUALA LUMPUR: BA of Malaysia (BAM) coaching director Rexy Mainaky has praised the consistency shown by men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun during the Indonesia Open last week.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun finished runners-up in the Super 1000 tournament. They lost 19-21, 21-16, 21-12 to China's Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang in the final.
It was a positive overall result for the world No. 20 pair as they had often lost in the early rounds in Super 1000 tournaments previously.
"Their performance during the Malaysia Masters and Singapore Open recently was just average but they were very consistent at the Indonesia Open," said Rexy today.
"They were consistent from the first round right until the final.
"They, however, have to take the opportunities that come their way to be able to overcome their opponents.
"I hope they will continue to be consistent in the future."
The last time a Malaysian pair won the men's doubles at the Indonesia open was during the 2008 edition through Zakry Abdul Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari.
Datuk Razif Sidek-Datuk Seri Jalani Sidek had previously won the title in 1988 and 1990.
