Promising future as shuttlers shine brightly at Asia Juniors

KUALA LUMPUR: The future of Malaysian badminton appears promising following the national youth squad's impressive performance at the recent Asia Junior Championships in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The squad concluded their campaign with one silver and three bronze medals, credited to national youth chief coach Jeffer Rosobin's efforts in nurturing the next generation of shuttlers since joining the BA of Malaysia (BAM) in November last year.

Malaysia's sole silver medal was secured by Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing in the boys' doubles.

Aaron-Khai Xing won all their matches, including in the mixed team competition, except for the men's doubles final, where they were defeated by China's Hu Ke Yuan and Lin Xiang Yi.

It marked Malaysia's first boys' doubles medal since 2010.

Overall, Malaysia had representatives in the quarter-finals of all five events in the competition.

The shuttlers' next assignment is the World Junior Championships in Nanchang, China, in September.
