KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Zii Jia expects another tough clash in the Paris Olympics as he faces Denmark's world No. 3 Anders Antonsen in the men's singles quarter-finals on Friday.
The world No. 7 defeated home favourite Toma Junior Popov 21-13, 24-22 in the last 16 at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena on Thursday.
Zii Jia said he managed to calm himself down in the second game to wrap up the win.
"It was tough in the second game. I was expecting it to go to the rubber gamet," said the 26-year-old player after the match.
"Popov is a good player. I have played him a few times, and he's in the best condition now.
"I just tried to calm myself down and focus during the match."
In Zii Jia's last encounter against Antonsen, the Malaysian won to reach the Malaysia Masters semi-finals in May.
"I will just do my best and play to a plan," Zii Jia added.
