TSG's Quintero clinches second win in Turkey

TERENGGANU Cycling Team (TSG) continued their strong form in Europe by clinching their second win in a row at the Velo Alanya Grand Prix in Turkey on Sunday.

Colombian all-rounder Carlos Quintero delivered the goods for TSG with a fine attacking display in the closing stages of the race.

Quintero won the 103.5km one-day race in two hours, 40 minutes and 33 seconds.

Alex Hoehn (Wildlife Generation Pro Cycling) came in second in the sprint while TSG's Eritrean rider Metkel Eyob completed the podium, and a fruitful weekend for the Kuala Terengganu-based team.

TSG's Artem Ovechkin (Russia) was 12th (+10s) while Youcef Reguigui (Algeria), Nur Aiman Zariff and Goh Choon Huat (Singapore) finished out of the top-40.

Quintero said he had been eyeing the first win with TSG since he joined the team in mid-2019.

The Villamaria-born rider said: "This is an unbelievable feeling, it's hard to explain it with words.

"It's amazing, It is my first win with the team.

"I have to thank the team for their support. Huge congratulations to everyone."

Sprinter Harrif Saleh, who won the Manavgat GP on Saturday, was not fielded on Sunday.

TSG have already completed four of six UCI 1.2. races so far in Turkey.
