Vingada says Cheng Hoe has the experience to lead Harimau Malaya

KUALA LUMPUR: Former national coach Nelo Vingada feels that the man, who replaced him, Tan Cheng Hoe, is capable of leading Harimau Malaya.

Vingada, who resigned as national coach following Malaysia’s poor results in the Asian Cup qualifiers, believes that Cheng Hoe, his former assistant, should have no problem taking over due to his wide experience with Malaysian football.

“After leaving the Malaysian team, I can’t comment much on the matter,

“However, I wish Tan (Cheng Hoe) and the national team all the best and success.

“Tan is a very good coach and is well known in Malaysia.

“To me, he is my good friend. I believe he can go a good job,” said Vingada when contacted in Portugal today.

Vingada, who signed a two-year contract with FAM, stepped down as national coach just after five months.

Cheng Hoe, known for helping to make Kedah a football power, was promoted from assistant to national coach on Dec 7.
