Perak FA president urged to step down

IPOH: The anger and disappointment of not just Perak football fans but that of others as well from all across the country is still simmering towards Perak FA (PAFA) president, Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim, following his actions of showing off the Malaysia Cup trophy.

Even though he has made a public apology through a press conference yesterday (Tuesday) by saying that he had no untoward intentions of gloating, boasting or tarnishing the iamge and prestige of the trophy and competition, Hasnul has continued to be on the receiving end of criticism, and he has also been urged to even step down as PAFA president.

Now there is even a campaign on social media urging Hasnul to step down with the hashtags, #PresidenPafaSilaLetakJawatan, and #PresidenPafaOut.

Apart from this, there is also a campaign urging Perak football fans to boycott the victory parade of the Malaysia Cup win for the districts in the silver state which is being planned by the state government and PAFA in the near future.

Both of Hasnul’s Facebook accounts have been swarmed with all sorts of criticisms apart from being trolled by disgruntled netizens.

Netizens have questioned Hasnul’s actions in parading the Malaysia Cup trophy on a double decker bus around the town of Parit Buntar yesterday (Tuesday), which has become viral on social media and become a subject of criticism because of the lack of response from town folk and the absence of Perak players in the victory parade.

However there are those such as for PAFA deputy president such as and team manager, Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya who made an appeal via his Facebook account urging Perak fans to forgive Hasnul for his actions as he has already apologised.

“Salam. I am asking that all Perak fans forgive YB@Hasnul Zulkarnain. He has already apologised. Let us all forgive him. We are all after all only human and flawed. Datuk Seri Puhat and I too have made mistakes during our time helming PAFA.

“Let’s move on. There is still a lot of PAFA management matters that need to be done for next season. Let us give them the space to prepare the team for next year, Insya-Allah.. Wassalam,” read Shahrul’s Facebook post.

Meanwhile in related developments, efforts to get in touch with Hasnul on some parties urging him to step down as PAFA president proved futile as he could not be reached for comment.
