KUALA LUMPUR: Akhyar Rashid on the radar of a European club?
There are talks that the 19-year-old has got the attention of Belarus’ Bate Borisov.
In a Facebook posting by Football Agent – Malaysia, it is said the 15-time Belarusian Premier League champions want to “test” Akhyar.
“Football Agent – Malaysia will be in touch with Akhyar and JDT (Johor Darul Ta’zim) in the near future to discuss the matter in further details.”
“Should a signing successfully take place, he (Akhyar) could be the first Malaysian to play in the UEFA
Champions League/UEFA Europa League) alongside Bate Barisov who have also qualified for the highest European League for the 2019-2020 season.”
Former Kedah star Akhyar joined JDT in December on a four-year contract.
Football Agent – Malaysia said: “When Akhyar was still with Kedah (2017-2018), agents from Portugal, Latvia, Malta and Belarus contacted us but we refused as Akhyar had his own agent at the time.
“But now he is no longer tied to any agents.”
Following his controversial move from Kedah to the Southern Tigers, JDT included a release clause of RM12 million, making Akhyar the most valuable Malaysian player.
