WHILE Hadi Fayyadh started the Sea Games with a goal, he wasn’t really in the mood to celebrate.
His team didn’t get the win that they wanted, as Malaysia could only settle for a 1-1 draw with Myanmar in their Group A opener at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila yesterday.
The striker admitted that he has yet to find his range and he hopes to turn up the heat in their next match against the Philippines.
Hadi described yesterday’s opening 1-1 draw with Myanmar as bittersweet for him though he nodded home the equaliser for Malaysia in the first half.
“First of all, I would like to say I am grateful to have been able to score today but at the same time I am a little disappointed that we could not take full points,” said Hadi who currently plys his trade with Japanese club Fagiano Okayama.
“The team gave a 100 per cent today and had quite a few chances. We hit the post a few times, but we just could not convert.
“In football, scoring goals is everything.
“It is the only way you can win and as a forward it is my job to score goals.”
Hadi, who started up front alongside Luqman Hakim and Akhyar Rashid in a 3-4-3 system yesterday.
