AFTER managing to beat a Covid-19 "curfew", Kedah now want to beat Felda United in their Super League match in Jengka, Pahang today.
Though an administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) is enforced in 28 areas in Kedah from Sept 11-25 due to a Covid-19 outbreak, the Kedah team were given permission by the Police to travel from Kota Star for the Felda match.
Earlier, the Kedah team were worried they could not journey to Jengka.
However Kedah manager Al-Naliq Hasmi Abu Hassan allayed those fears with a statement in the club's official Facebook page that clearance has been given by the police for them to travel out of the state.
"The Kedah FA have made a request to the Police to travel out from Kota Star for the match.
"Thankfully, we have gotten the approval and we will fly out to Subang (yesterday)," said Al-Naliq in his statement.
After leaving the coronavirus scare behind, the Canaries now look forward to getting their fourth consecutive Super League win.
Kedah defeated Police 2-0 and PJ City FC 2-1 in their last two matches with Ivorian Tchetche Kipre scoring thrice.
The Northerners will be out to heap more misery on Felda, who have got only a point from their last two matches.
Kedah coach Aidil Sharin Sahak, whose team are third in the table, said his men are in high spirits.
However, he feels that the match against Felda will be a tricky one as they will be playing on an artificial surface.
"Playing on a different surface could hamper some of my players' movements as they will need to keep a fast tempo for long periods."
Meanwhile, Dollah Salleh hopes to get his ailing Pahang side back on track following back-to-back defeats to Johor Darul Ta'zim and UiTM FC when they meet Police at Darul Makmur Stadium today.
But the head coach will have to do so without star striker Dickson Nwakaeme who is still nursing an injury while fellow forward Ivan Carlos is only rated 50-50 to start.
It points to a good opportunity for bottom-of-the-table Police, coached by Ishak Kunju, to claim their first win of the season.
Meanwhile in a Premier League match yesterday, UKM FC edged Kelantan United 1-0 at Selayang Stadium with a strike towards the end of the match.
