Mark UiTM as dangerous

UITM FC may not be big guns in the Super League but their opponents are starting to respect the university side.

Following their sixth place finishing in their Super League debut last season, UiTM FC are certainly a team not to be trifled with.

Last year, they finished the shortened season with 17 points, doing even better than PJ City, Sri Pahang, Melaka United, Sabah and the now defunct Felda United and Police.

However, following UiTM's creditable results last season, most of their good players were poached" by other teams.

Now they have to build the team with new players for this season.

However, UiTM coach Frank Bernhardt isn't worried.

"We have a bunch of new players who we worked on to bring into certain positions, and familiarise with the playing style we have developed in the past weeks.

"We didn't lose any test matches during the pre-season. That gave us the confidence. I think we are going in the right direction."

In the Shah Alam City Cup last month, UiTM did fairly well, drawing against Terengganu FC II (1-1) and Sri Pahang (0-0). They beat Selangor II 3-1.

On UiTM's Super League opener at home against Terengganu in Shah Alam, Bernhart said: "We are ready for this match. We have had a lot of training, played a lot of friendlies and we are ready.

When asked to rank his team's pre-season performance on a scale of between one and 10, Bernhardt said: "I would give us at least an 'eight'."
