KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah FC hitman Kpah Sherman has urged his teammates to make the Darulaman Stadium a fortress in the Super League this season.
After losing 2-0 away to Johor Darul Ta'zim in the Charity Shield in their season opener, Kedah bounced back at home with a 2-0 win over Sabah in Alor Star on Tuesday.
Liberian international Sherman sparkled against Sabah, providing an assist to Kipre Tchetche in the 15th minute before getting his name on the scoresheet in the 21st minute.
Kedah were unbeaten at home in the 2019 season but suffered one defeat last year. The 2020 league was reduced to a single round due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sherman, who was the 2019 Golden Boot winner, said the Red Eagles have found their groove at home, and he wants Kedah to be invincible at Darulaman.
"After we lost to JDT in our first game, we came together as a team and we vowed to fight hard...
"It was a good win for us (against Sabah) and getting the three points immediately after the JDT game was important," said Sherman.
"We have decided that we should try to make Darulaman Stadium our fortress. We want to be respected here, we have 10 more games here and we want to take all the three points here."
Sherman, 29, said he aims to forge a dynamic strike partnership with Ivorian Tchetche. The duo combined for a total of 17 goals in 14 appearances last season to help Kedah finish runners-up in the Super League.
"When I'm in the right position, I pass him (Tchetche) the ball and when I'm in position, he feeds me the ball. We have no problem as to who scores the goals," said Sherman.
"As a team, we didn't do well against JDT. But we are now getting better in terms of combination play and fitness."
"Coach Aidil (Shahrin Sahak) made some tactical changes in our second game. We had more ball possession and created more chances... we also moved faster."
