Kurniawan in danger of being axed

SABAH coach Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto could be axed if the Rhinos continue to perform poorly in the Super League.

Team manager Marzuki Nasir issued a stern warning to the Indonesian-born coach yesterday.

The team started their season promisingly when they drew 1-1 with Melaka.

However, they failed to perform in their defeats to Kedah (2-0), PJ City (1-0) and Sri Pahang (2-1) in the following matches.

They are 11th in the standings with one point, ahead of UiTM on goal difference.

"We will re-evaluate the squad and also study Kurniawan's report. We will also evaluate the performance of Kurniawan before taking further action."

Marzuki urged Sabah fans not to panic as he believes the team can bounce back soon.

"I am confident the team will fight on to remain in the Super League. I hope the fans will continue to support the team."

Sabah had only one available import player in South Korean Park Tae Su for their opening two matches.

Indonesia's Saddil Ramdani, Liberia's Sam Johnson, Macedonia's Risto Mitrevski and Gabon's Levy Madinda were only available from the third match.

For the record, coach Thomas Dooley was rested by Sri Pahang recently after the team failed to collect points in their opening two matches. The team are now coached by Dollah Salleh.
