Super League title virtually in JDT's grasp as Terengganu falter

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) have virtually retained their Super League title for the eighth straight time after their closest rival, Terengganu lost 2-1 to Kedah on Saturday.

JDT defeated PJ City 2-0 to open up an 11-point lead on 48.

The Turtles remain second with 37 points.

JDT, who will play Sri Pahang on Friday, scored their opening goal through Brazilian Bengson da Silva in the 27th minute.

Mohamadou Sumareh added their second goal seven minutes from time.

At the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak, Kedah scored through Rabih Ataya (45th) and Syazwan Zainon (50th).

Terengganu managed to pull one back in the 70th minute through David Da Silva.

In Ipoh, Selangor defeated Perak 3-0 courtesy of goals from Oliver Buff (42nd), Ifedayo Omosuyi (45th and 59th).

Omosuyi has now scored 22 goals in the competition and leads the Golden Boot race.
