KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) extended their dominance in the Super League with a 3-1 victory over Sri Pahang at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri, today.
An own goal by Zarif Irfan Hashimuddin in the 48th minute handed the Southern Tigers the lead before David Rowley equalised in the 53rd minute.
However, JDT's Bergson da Silva ensured the win with a brace, scoring in the 52nd minute and again in stoppage time.
The result sees the defending champions comfortably topping the table with 46 points from 16 matches.
At the Manjung Stadium, Selangor recorded their 11th win of the season with a 2-1 triumph over Perak, thanks to Alvin Fortes' double.
Forward Fortes struck in the 41st and 72nd minutes to give the Red Giants a two-goal cushion, while Perak reduced the deficit through Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor's 89th-minute effort. Selangor remain second in the standings with 35 points.
Meanwhile, KL City edged Negri Sembilan 2-1 at the KLFA Stadium.
Paulo Josue, who returned from national duty, opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Brendan Gan doubled the lead with a header in the 12th minute.
Negri Sembilan midfielder Jacque Faye pulled one back with a header in the 36th minute, but it wasn't enough to avoid their 11th defeat in 15 matches.
The victory lifts the City Boys one spot to eighth with 17 points, while Negri remain rooted at the bottom with just six points from 15 matches.
