KLFA are like a rich and pretty widow looking for a partner

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur FA (KLFA) liken themselves to a pretty widow with some assets.

According to KLFA president Khalid Abdul Samad, the association have a piece of land and are looking for a partner to help them build a football academy.

"The land in Taman Melati is valued at RM50 million and developers won't just pay for the land but add on 20 per cent from the profit of the project. It has the potential to generate RM60 million.

"So, we're like a pretty 'janda' (widow), not just pretty but rich. So, that will be interesting," he quipped.

Khalid said KLFA plan to build a football academy and a stadium on the land.

But before KLFA can do that, they have some domestic problem to sort out first. A deal with a former partner has turned sour.

Khalid, a former Federal Territories minister, said KLFA are now in litigation with a private company, alleged to have committed itself to the financial costs of operating the KL City FC team earlier.

Khalid said KLFA are also now in talks with International Islamic University Malaysia on investing in their 20-acre land.
