ALOR STAR: Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) is taking legal action against those who had spread unfounded allegations that the club's poor performance in the Malaysian Super League was because of salary arrears.
In brushing away the rumours, Kedah Football Association (KFA) president Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the legal action was necessary to stop irresponsible people from continuing to spread lies.
"After being informed about such allegations, I immediately sought an explanation from the KDA FC management.
"The management denied that there were any salary arrears owed to the players, and the club is taking legal action against those who spread the lies. They should answer in court," he told reporters after chairing the state executive council weekly meeting at Wisma Darul Aman here today.
Sanusi claimed certain quarters were trying to politicise the issue to smear the state government's image.
"They purposely create such allegations because they want to put dirt on the state administration. They want to change the state government.
"However, the team belongs to a private company. They tried to create issues to make the state government look bad, but they didn't find any. So, they ended up playing up this dirty trick," he said.
However, Sanusi acknowledged he was unhappy with the club's performance after suffering three consecutive defeats before recording a draw with PJ City yesterday.
Sanusi, though, said he still had faith that the team's performance will show improvement when the transfer window opens at the end of this month.
"I was made to understand there are players who sustained severe injuries which will keep them out of action up to six months.
"Perhaps the club could bring in a few new players and release some players during transfer window later.
"I leave everything to the management and the coaches to run the show. I do not want to disturb them in managing the club.
"I am just like any other fan out there who wants the best for the club," he said.
