KUALA LUMPUR: Singapore football legend Fandi Ahmad will rejoin struggling Super League team Pahang as their technical adviser.
When Fandi quit his position as FA of Singapore head of elite youth earlier this month, there was speculation that he will replace the out of favour Frenchman Christophe Gamel as coach of the Pahang Super League team.
Pahang FC issued a statement today saying Dollah Salleh will act as interim coach of their Super League side until the end of the season.
"Dollah will replace Gamel, who chose not to continue his services. The club thank Gamel and wish him the best of luck."
Pahang will have a different role for Fandi, who, as a player, helped the Elephants win the Premier League and Malaysia Cup in 1992.
"Pahang are glad to announce Fandi Ahmad as the club's technical adviser.
"Fandi is no stranger to Pahang fans as he previously played for Pahang for two seasons and was part of the double achievement (winning the Premier League and 1992 Malaysia Cup)."
This season, Pahang recorded only two wins and two draws in 11 Super League matches. They are currently second last in the 12-team league.
