KUALA LUMPUR: Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) have parted ways with their coach Benjamin Mora.
JDT, in a statement today, said they had granted Mora's request to leave them, and thanked him for his services.
"Benjamin had requested JDT to allow him to return to Mexico due to unavoidable personal matters, and JDT respect the request and will always leave the door open for a return in the future," read a statement posted on Johor Southern Tigers' official Facebook page.
"Thank you, Benjamin. You'll forever be part of the JDT family. See you again."
The 43-year-old Mora is JDT's most successful coach, winning four Super League titles, four Charity Cups and one Malaysia Cup, apart from leading JDT to the Asian Champions League knockout stage last April.
Mora started as JDT II coach in the Premier League in 2015 before filling the Super League vacancy left by Argentine coach Mario Gomez in 2017.
The Mexican led JDT in a total of 148 games over two stints, winning 102 games.
There were rumours that Mora had left JDT when he was not seen on the team bench in their last two league matches, and his spot was filled by assistant coach Mariano Echeverria.
