KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will be among four football teams participating in the King's Cup quadrangular in Chiang Mai from Sept 20-24.
This was announced by the FA of Thailand today.
Apart from World No 147 Malaysia, the other participants are hosts Thailand (world No 111), Tajikistan (No 108) and Trinidad & Tobago (No 101).
Malaysia emerged as champions in four editions of the King's Cup: in 1972, 1976, 1977 and 1978.
The King's Cup will serve as a run-up for the Malaysian team preparing for the AFF Cup and part of national coach Kim Pan Gon's team preparations against higher ranked teams.
Pan Gon's men are scheduled to have centralised training from Sept 15 before leaving for Thailand.
