KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah came out tops against Penang in the Northern derby at Darulaman Stadium today.
Cameroonian striker Ronald Ngah scored for the hosts as Kedah won the Super League match 1-0.
The Red Eagles took a while to settle down while the Panthers dominated possession on a heavy pitch following a downpour. The match was goalless at halftime.
But in the 56th minute, the home fans roared when Ngah broke the deadlock for his 10th goal of the season.
Penang, coached by Zainal Abidin Hassan, had their chance to equalise in the final minute but Hilal El-Helwe shot wide in front of goal. Penang's losing streak has now extended to six games.
