KUALA LUMPUR: Aidil Sharin Sahak has resigned as Kedah head coach just a week before the Malaysia Cup kicks off.
Kedah chief executive officer Khamal Idris Ali confirmed the matter today.
Aidil's assistant Victor Andrag will now handle the team as caretaker coach for the Malaysia Cup, which offers an AFC Cup spot.
"We wish Aidil all the best," said Khamal today.
In the just-concluded Super League, Kedah finished eighth with 27 points.
Aidil's best result during his four-year tenure at Kedah was guiding them to the 2019 FA Cup title. Under his guidance, Kedah were also runners-up in the 2019 Malaysia Cup and the 2020 and 2021 Super League.
Meanwhile, coach Nafuzi Zain's position at Terengganu is not confirmed yet for next season. The club have yet to offer him a contract extension.
"I will leave it up to the management. I have given my best to the club. I am not joining Kedah. It is just a rumour," said Nafuzi.
