KUALA LUMPUR: PJ City FC announced today their pullout from the 2023 Super League.
This was stated by PJ City president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal at a press conference.
Subahan denied claims that financial problems had forced the Phoenix to drop out of the league.
He said the withdrawal was an executive decision by PJ City management due to the direction that local football is heading next season.
PJ City were the only all-local players club for the past few seasons, and they were up against stronger rivals who had five import players each. From next year, each team are allowed up to nine foreigners.
