KUALA LUMPUR: Coach Tan Cheng Hoe believes Selangor will have a chance to regain their glory days soon.
Cheng Hoe, who joined Selangor in September, helped the Red Giants reach the Malaysia Cup final for the first time since 2016.
However, they were edged 2-1 by Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in the final at National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.
"I believe this team will do better next season. I am pleased with the team and will only make minor changes for the new season," said Cheng Hoe after the game.
Terengganu's Faisal Halim and Negri Sembilan's Khuzaimi Piee are among the players linked to Selangor for the new season.
"I think the team did well to reach the final. They worked hard after I joined Selangor. I made some changes to training, and the players responded well to them.
"The young players will form the core of the team next year. Of course, we have to improve in some areas," Cheng Hoe added.
