Red Giants coach still hopeful despite tumble

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite Friday's 3-2 loss to Terengganu in the FA Cup semi-final first leg at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Selangor coach Nidzam Jamil sees hope in his team.

And he is optimistic that the Red Giants can overturn the one-goal deficit in the return leg at MBPJ Stadium on August 3.

Nidzam feels that the Selangor team have the character and ability to prevail, and reach the FA Cup final.

He said Jordanian midfielder Noor Al Deen Mahmoud Ali Al Rawabdeh's decision to play through injury, despite needing stitches, epitomised the spirit of the team.

"We have faced setbacks before, but it's not about panicking. It's about refining our approach and staying committed to our goals," said Nidzam. .

Terengganu coach Tomislav Steinbruckner admitted that Selangor are still a tough team despite the Turtles' first-leg win, and that it will be difficult for his men in the away leg.

Terengganu scored through Safawi Rasid (30th minute), Nurillo Tukhtasinov (35th) and Ismahil Akinade (70th) while Selangor replied through Alvin Fortes (39th) and Noor (48th).
