KUALA LUMPUR: Where to get a lethal striker for the 2023 season? For Kuala Lumpur, they don't have to look any further. There's a top hitman down town.
And he is for hire. Brazilian Herlison Caion, 32, doesn't have to fly here from the Western Hemisphere; KL needs only to sign him from their Klang Valley neighbours, Selangor.
Caion, it seems, is a good catch for the City Boys. Just look at his stats: 25 goals in 33 appearances for Selangor. In the Super League, he finished as the second top scorer with 15 goals behind JDT's Bergson Da Silva (29), third in the Malaysia Cup (six) and tied for second in the FA Cup (four).
KL coach Bojan Hodak, who is elated to have signed Caion, admitted he was surprised that Selangor had released their top striker.
"We scouted him (last year) but he was too expensive, and we couldn't meet their price," said Hodak.
"A few days ago, Caion's agent contacted me. I was surprised Selangor let him go, so now we get him for a much better price."
