KUALA LUMPUR: The finishing of Kelantan players in a Super League match was so bad that their frustrated coach, Frank Bernhardt said even a kid could have done better.
Bernhardt admitted he couldn't believe Kelantan's tame show in front of the opponents' goal in the 3-2 home defeat by Perak, which was their fifth straight league loss.
"I don't even know how to explain it (the misses by Kelantan's players). It was from a distance that even a kid could score," said Bernhardt who probably wished he should have been on the pitch himself that day to take a shot.
And the more chances the Kelantan players squander, the more chances of the German coach getting the sack. Bernhardt has been set a KPI by Kelantan team owner Norizam Tukiman, and he will be sacked if Kelantan lose five matches in a row.
The evening had actually started well for Bernhardt with the Red Warriors taking the lead in the 14th minute through Nuha Maron Krubally.
But a mistake by Kelantan's Yusri Yuhasmadi in the 35th minute led to Perak scoring the equaliser.
Perak pulled ahead before the interval through Luciano Guaycochea, and Che Mohamad Suhairi Che Halim got their third goal in the 69th minute.
Kelantan lessened the deficit in stoppage time through Nurshamil Ghani, but it was too little too late.
