'We are with you. Stay strong', Manchester United players tell Faisal Halim [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: "We are with you. Stay stong."

This is the message Manchester United duo Andre Onana and Alejandro Garnacho had for national footballer Faisal Halim who is recovering from an acid attack.

In a heartwarming display of solidarity, Onana and Garnacho extended their heartfelt wishes to their fellow footballer in Malaysia in a 30-second video published by Astro Awani.

The duo said they, along with their teammates, stood in solidarity with Faisal.

"Hello, Faisal. We heard what happened. We feel you. We are with you," said Onana.

"We know it's a tough moment for you and your family here. Garna and I, we just want to wish you all the best. Stay strong," he added.

The video highlights the international attention the attack on Faisal garnered. Various international news outlets of the attack which prompted his club, Selangor FC to withdraw from the Charity Shield match with Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) due to safety concerns.

Social media user Akmal said Onana and Garnacho's gesture was a "class act", while another user, @aqashah, praised the spirit of camaraderie and empathy of the players.

On Sunday, Faisal was attacked by two men on a motorcycle outside a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.

He suffered severe burns to his face, neck, chest, shoulders, and hands, after his assailants splashed acid on him.

Federal police are probing the attack on Faisal and have to date arrested two people, including one suspect who has seven criminal records.

On Wednesday, Faisal reportedly showed signs of recovery as he was able to eat on his own and is in high spirits.
