FAM to address Youth Cup brawl with stern action

KUALA LUMPUR: The FA of Malaysia (FAM) is set to take stern action against Melaka and Sri Pahang following a brawl between their players during Sunday's Youth Cup match at Hang Tuah Stadium.

FAM secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman said they have received the full report and will consider stern action against the players and the clubs.

"For FAM, we take such matters seriously. The report will be forwarded to our disciplinary committee for further deliberation.

"I hope strict action will be taken considering that such an incident should not occur at the Youth Cup level," said Noor Azman.

In March, FAM issued a warning regarding the repercussions for teams involved in altercations in both the President's Cup (Under 20) and Youth Cup (Under 18) competitions.

The incident has once again cast a shadow over local football, with a video clip of the brawl between Melaka and Sri Pahang players during Sunday's match quickly going viral on social media.

The 44-second clip depicted players from both teams engaged in pushing and shoving, while team officials attempted to restore order. In one particularly alarming moment, a player was seen aggressively kicking an opponent. - Bernama
