KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu winger Akhyar Rashid hopes that the violent episodes he and Faisal Halim faced will not happen to other footballers in the country.
He expressed his inability to witness other footballers experiencing similar incidents.
"I hope other footballers in the country will not experience the same thing," said Akhyar, who was robbed and assaulted in Kuala Terengganu on May 2.
"I cannot deny that the trauma still lingers."
Akhyar thanked his fans for their support, including holding special prayers at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak, on May 11.
"Thank you to all the fans for supporting and praying for my recovery.
"My health is improving, and I hope to play against Penang on Sunday," he added.
As a result of the attack, Akhyar received four stitches on his head and two on his leg.
Three days later, Faisal was a victim of an acid attack in Damansara, resulting in severe injuries and requiring four surgeries."
