KUALA LUMPUR: Despite eight of their players sidelined by Covid-19, Terengganu FC will go ahead with their FA Cup quarter-final first leg match against Sabah at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium today.
Though the Turtles initially wanted to to request a postponement, Terengganu FC's chief executive
Sabri Abas said they decided to proceed as planned after discussions with the visiting team.
"We did submit a request to the MFL (Malaysian Football League) to postpone the game initially. However, after considering the inconvenience to Sabah, who had already arranged travel and accommodation, we decided to continue as scheduled," said Sabri.
He said despite the setbacks, the Turtles are confident of fielding a competitive team.
Sabah coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has told his men not to underestimate Terengganu as they have top players like Safawi Rasid, Akhyar Rashid, and Akram Mahinan.
