KUALA LUMPUR: The Under-14 squad of FC Kuala Lumpur (FCKL) clinched the Iber Cup Barcelona title by defeating England's St Johns Wood United 2-1 in the final at Estadio Les Pistes Stadium on Friday.
St Johns scored first in the final though Xavi Esson in the eighth minute.
However, FCKL fought back, with Seb Joergensen levelling the score three minutes later.
Striker Kalen Hanif Roznain-Brown was the toast of FCKL when he scored the winner in the 23rd minute.
FCKL coach Emma Hankins, who has been with the team for three years, praised the players' fighting spirit in denying the English team the title.
"It wasn't an easy game. St Johns put up a fantastic fight. They scored first, but we fought back and won the title.
"The win will inspire us to attain greater success in the future," said Emma.
FCKL is a youth football academy in Malaysia established in 2009. — BERNAMA
