KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia prepared for the Asean Under-19 Championship by beating their Cambodian counterparts 4-2 in a football friendly at UiTM Stadium yesterday.
The Malaysian team, coached by Spaniard Juan Torres Garrido, took a 2-0 lead through Danish Hakimi Salahudin (13th minute) and Arami Wafiy Mohamad Zakimi (25th).
But Cambodia equalised through Phoeuk Thatthai (26th) and UK Devin (30th).
Malaysia ended up triumphant with goals from Amir Farhan Mohd Fuzi (50th) and substitute Izzat Muhammad Syahir Mohd Zulishan (80th).
Garrido said: "Our players demonstrated a good understanding of our game plan. We're definitely making progress."
The Asean Under-19 Championship will be held from July 17-29 in Surabaya, Indonesia.
