Kuala Lumpur United intend to make police report following FIB punishment

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur United FC Sdn Bhd will lodge a police report, and also with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) following the First Instance Body's (FIB) punitive action against KL City FC.

The FIB punished KL City recently over inaccurate or false declarations of salary arrears in their document submission for a national licence to play in the M-League.

KL United FC Sdn Bhd director Syed Yazid Syed Omar said they will file reports against KL City FC's administrative officials and also against FIB, which was considered to have failed to handle the issue when it granted a national licence to the KL City team that participate in the Super League.

"We will file a report so that this matter can be investigated transparently and properly. FIB must be held accountable because they are the ones who issue the licence," he said.

"They should have checked the documents more carefully instead of believing them blindly.

"I'm not making accusations but we want an investigation to be conducted."

Earlier. Syed Yazid said KL City FC had not made payments to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) since February 2023, amounting to nearly RM719,000.

The FIB audit, which included a detailed review via the AFC CLAS system and consultations with government agencies - the EPF, Inland Revenue Board and Social Security Organization - confirmed that KL City had submitted inaccurate declarations of no salary arrears as of June 30, 2023, for the National Licence, and Dec 31, 2023, for the AFC Licence.

The FIB, which is an independent regulatory body appointed by the Malaysian Football League, has fined KL City RM50,000, docked them six Super League points apart from a transfer ban until the end of the 2024-2025 season.

They have been penalised another RM50,000, based on the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) licensing regulations and their AFC 2024-2025 licence is cancelled. They are also barred from applying for AFC licence for two MFL club licensing cycles (2024-2025 and 2025-2026).

Syed Yazid said the six-point deduction is unfair because the KL FC players and coaching staff were not at fault in this crisis

"FIB just wants to deduct points arbitrarily. If they proceed with the deduction, KL City will not hesitate to withdraw from competing further (in the M-League)."
