Opponents show support for acid-attack victim Faisal [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Even his losing opponents showed support for him after the match.

That's the kind of solidarity for acid-attack victim Faisal Halim from fellow M-Leaguers.

Despite a 2-1 loss to Faisal's Selangor at Likas Stadium on Tuesday, Sabah players sent a heartfelt social media tribute to Faisal.

Sabah FC posted a poignant social media message: "It's wonderful to see you back on the field! We stand with you, FH7."

There were also emotional scenes after the match. Sabah coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee and his players were seen warmly embracing Faisal and celebrating his return to the pitch while being particularly careful with his injured left arm.

Faisal, 26, suffered severe injuries after he was splashed with acid by an unknown assailant at a shopping centre in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, on May 5.

Against Sabah, Selangor coach Nidzam Jamil sent in Halim in the 80th minute, similar to his first match this season, which saw the Red Giants win 2-0 against Kelantan Darul Naim at MBPJ Stadium last Saturday.
