KUALA LUMPUR: Sri Pahang finally ended their winless streak in the Super League with a commanding 5-1 thrashing of Police at the Temerloh Municipal Stadium today.
It was their first victory since suffering a 1-0 defeat to Kelantan United on May 11.
Kpah Sherman and Stefano Brundo were the standout performers, each scoring a brace.
Sherman opened the floodgates in the 16th minute, followed by Brundo's strike in the 24th minute.
Just two minutes later, Manuel Hidalgo added to Police's misery, netting a third goal.
Brundo then wrapped up a dominant first-half performance with his second in the 33rd minute, making it 4-0.
In the second half, Sherman wasted no time, adding his second just two minutes after the restart to make it 5-0 for Fandi Ahmad's men.
Police managed a consolation through Bruno Suzuki, who found the net in the 73rd minute.
With the victory, Sri Pahang climbed to seventh in the Super League standings, sitting on 10 points from nine games.
Police, despite the loss, remain in sixth with 11 points.
Meanwhile, at Likas Stadium, Terengganu secured a hard-fought point with a 1-1 draw against Sabah.
The home side took an early lead when new signing Joao Pedro scored on his debut in the 10th minute.
However, Terengganu's Ismahil Akinade struck back in first-half stoppage time to share the spoils.
The draw sees Terengganu remain third in the standings with 16 points from nine games, while Sabah sit just behind them in fourth with 14 points.
