KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) continued their unbeaten run in the Super League with a resounding 5-0 win over Perak at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri.
The Southern Tigers, now with 40 points from 14 matches, sit firmly at the top of the standings.
The fixture, postponed twice due to adverse weather, finally took place at JDT's fortress today.
A hat-trick from Bergson da Silva and a brace by Romel Morales ensured a night of celebration for the home fans.
JDT's breakthrough came in the 21st minute, with Morales opening the scoring.
Just two minutes later, Da Silva doubled the lead, leaving Perak struggling to find their footing.
By halftime, JDT held a commanding 4-0 advantage, with Morales netting his second in the 35th minute and Da Silva converting a penalty in stoppage time.
The Brazilian completed his hat-trick in the closing stages, sealing another dominant win for the Southern Tigers.
For the record, JDT have scored 53 goals this season while conceding just six, now sitting 11 points clear of second-placed Selangor and on track to retain their title.
