We will back Nidzam till the end, says Selangor captain

KUALA LUMPUR: Captain Safuwan Baharudin has made it clear the Selangor squad will continue to give their coach Nidzam Jamil their full support.

Nidzam is under increasing pressure from fans - the hashtag #NJOUT is gaining traction on social media - following their 3-0 defeat at home to Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in the Super League on Sunday.

Selangor, who are second in the table, now trail JDT by eight points. The latter also have a game in hand.

Safuwan said Nidzam has done a "tremendous" job since replacing Tan Cheng Hoe at the start of the season but made it clear the team must bounce back from their defeat to JDT.

"We have been doing well this season but we have to try and move on from the Johor game," said Safuwan, when met at the launch of the Sketchers Football Collection - Evolution Pack Elite today.

"I have the utmost respect for coach Nidzam. Personally, I feel that he has done a tremendous job since coach Tan left.

"I know it is hard for him, I know the fans have been talking about him.

"But I respect him because it is not easy for a local coach to come in and handle the job at Selangor.

"I think the boys' really love him, no matter what we will back him up till the very end."

Selangor have dropped five points from their last two matches but have a chance to bounce back against Kedah, who are 10th in the table, when they play on Saturday.

Safuwan, his Selangor teammate Syahir Bashar, as well as players from Bunga Raya Damansara FC attended the launch of the Sketchers Football Collection at the Football Republic outlet in Kuala Lumpur today.

"I have been using Sketchers for two months now and I like the comfort and compactness of the boots. Footballers are very particular about this," added Safuwan, who uses both the SKX_01 and Razor models.
