Unhappy fans want Selangor FC chief to resign

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of Selangor FC fans, known as UltraSel, are calling for the resignation of the club's chief executive officer, Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon, following a 2-1 defeat by Thailand's Muangthong United in an AFC Champions League 2 match at MBPJ Stadium on Thursday.

They questioned the direction of the team and their public outcry was a culmination of long-standing dissatisfaction with the club's management.

UltraSel had previously demanded answers over Selangor's frequent change of coaches, no fewer than five as the late B. Satiananthan, Michael Feichtenbeiner, Karsten Neitzel, Tan Cheng Hoe and Nidzam Jamil left in the past six seasons,

The discontent has not only been confined to angry chants at their home stadium as on social media, Selangor fans have been vocal in their criticism.

One fan, using the handle Madman (@hazerosme) on X, posted: "CEO @selangorfc, don't you feel the pressure of being called a b******? If so, why not resign and take the 'consolation' compensation? Or should someone disclose the internal report from social media findings? Isn't that how you answered about previous coaches?"

Another fan, Oon (@wanaimanhafiz), said: "The CEO doesn't feel the pressure from the fans? He's being insulted both at the stadium and on social media. Hurry up and feel the pressure. The faster you feel it, the faster you'll leave."

Mizan (@hamizanzafrii) said: "So, who will take action against the supporters' feedback on this b****** CEO? You like feedback on social media, right?"

Noh Gerimis (@rentakapuaka) said: "The analogy used for termites is spot on. If termites are in the house and the wood is damaged, replacing the wood doesn't solve the problem. The termites are still there. No matter how many times you replace the wood, the same issue will keep resurfacing.

"So, the 'invisible hand' that's supposedly behind the team's struggles is the management itself. They've been playing with perceptions, making it seem like outsiders are trying to bring the team down. But the true issue is the parasites within the management who are slowly destroying the team from within."

It is understood that some UltraSel members recently attended a town hall with the club's management in an attempt to address their concerns.

Attempts by Timesport to reach the Selangor FC management for comment have gone unanswered so far.
