KUALA LUMPUR: Eighteen former Terengganu City players have received financial help from world body, Fifa, due to unpaid wages.
The Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM), through Fifpro, has sought Fifa's assistance.
One of the recipients, Syazreen Mohd Suhaimi, expressed his gratitude after enduring years of uncertainty.
"First and foremost, we are grateful to Allah for this blessing. I would like to thank Pfam, Fifpro, and Fifa for resolving our salary arrears issue. Although it took time, I deeply appreciate the efforts of all parties involved in ensuring our rights were upheld. Alhamdulillah, after waiting since 2018, the matter is finally resolved. I hope Pfam continues to thrive in safeguarding the welfare of football players," said Syazreen.
Another beneficiary, Izzaq Faris Ramlan, hailed the Fifa assistance as proof that efforts to protect players' rights are ongoing and effective.
"I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Pfam for helping me and my fellow players get our dues. After six years of waiting, I have finally received my payment through Fifa. Pfam's commitment shows that footballers are never alone in facing challenges like this," said Izzaq.
