Perak blast Police 14-0 in Razak Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Perak marched into the semi-finals after routing Police 14-0 in a Group B hockey match in the Razak Cup at Taman Daya Stadium in Johor Baru today (Oct 9).

The Silver State, gunning for their 14th title, will face Group A winners Johor in the last four.

Defending champions Kuala Lumpur crashed out with a 3-0 loss to Pahang.

Pahang, who finished as Group A runners-up, will face Group B champions Terengganu in the semi-finals.

National forward Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal scored five goals for Perak (32nd, 34th, 40th, 51st and 54th).

Sixteen-year-old Orang Asli player Edhazril Shamsul plundered four goals (50th, 52nd, 53rd and 57th). Syed Syafiq Syed Cholan (third, 26th) Luqman Hakim Asri (10th), Aiman Safwan Abdullah (25th) and Saiful Sharil Bahri (42nd) contributed the other goals.

Perak coach K. Rajan said they needed only a simple win over Police, but didn't expect a double digit scoreline.

In the women's competition, last year's runners-up Selangor edged Pahang 1-0 while Perak beat Johor 2-1 in Group A.

In the semi-finals, Selangor will face Terengganu while Young Tigress will take on Perak.

Men's Group A: Selangor 0 Perlis 2, KL 0 Pahang 3.

Group B: Terengganu 5 Sabah 1, Perak 14 Police 0, Melaka 3 Armed Forces 3.

Women Group A: Pahang 0 Selangor 1, Perak 2 Johor 1.

Group B: Melaka 0 Terengganu 1, Negri Sembilan 0 KL 1.
