KUALA LUMPUR: Former Moto2 rider Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin believes Syarifuddin Azman will have to be on top of his game, both mentally and physically, if he is to make his mark at world championship level.
Kasma said the competition at global level is incredibly tough with very fine margins separating the winners and losers.
Syarifuddin, who currently competes in the FIM JuniorGP World Championship, has secured a full season seat in Moto3 next year with MT Helmets-MSI.
"Everyone knows that the pressure of competing at world championship level is incredibly high," said Kasma.
"It is not the same as other international races. To get into the world championships is not easy, staying there is just as hard.
"Only the best riders in the world get to race there, and Syarifuddin has been selected as one of them.
"He definitely deserves the chance as he has scored top-10s, top-5s and also podium finishes over the past few season, and has not taken any shortcuts.
"I hope Syarifuddin will be strong mentally and physically. The competition in Moto3 is very close and I hope he rides safely and does Malaysia proud."
Syarifuddin, who is managed by Zulfahmi Khairuddin, previously competed in the FIM CEV Moto3 world championships between 2020-2021.
Kasma had competed as a full season Moto2 rider in 2020 with Onexox TKKR SAG Team. He signed a three-year deal, but left after one year following a change in the team's title sponsor.
