Futsal females ready to spring surprise

NATIONAL women's futsal head coach Muizzudin Haris is confident his charges will spring a surprise at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games starting with their opening game against Myanmar today.

After playing numerous friendly matches as part of their preparation, Muizzudin said his charges are ready to prove themselves in front of their home supporters at the Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam.

"We have been preparing for this (KL2017) for a year and played a number of friendly matches both here and abroad," said the former national player.

"We are now ready and excited to begin our Sea Games campaign against Myanmar."

The team recently played a series of friendly matches with the China national team which saw them winning the first game comfortably 6-2 before being edged 3-4 in the second.

Muizzudin, however, is hoping his players will be able to sharpen their attacking game.

"We need to focus on improving our frontline and capitalise on every chance we get."

Malaysia will also play Indonesia (Aug 20), Vietnam (Aug 22) and defending champions Thailand (Aug 27) in the round robin competition.
