KUALA LUMPUR: National coach Beh Lee Wei believes the national table tennis squad needs to rethink their approach if they are to do better in the Sea Games in the future.
Malaysia ended the competition with two bronze after both the men's and women's teams lost in their semi-final matches at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) today.
"We need to work hard and make changes if we want to compete with the top teams in South East Asia," said Lee Wei, when met after the national team's matches today.
"We might focus more on the younger players as the players we have now are not prepared - both mentally and physically - to compete at a higher level.
"I am unsure of what the problem is. It could be a lack of confidence."
The men lost to Vietnam while the women's went down to Singapore, both losing 3-0.
