KUALA LUMPUR: Football legend Datuk Santokh Singh will lend his star power to KL Kopites as they attempt to enter the Malaysia Book of Records for the most number of Liverpool football club jerseys on display at the 1M4U Sentral in Puchong, tomorrow.
Santokh, a diehard Liverpool fan, will also be joined by FA of Malaysia (FAM) secretary general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, FAM head of referee unit Kassim M.K. Kadir Bacha as well as MIC youth leader Datuk Sivarrajh Chandra.
This was announced by KL Kopites treasurer Ragunath, who said they already have more than a thousand jerseys, which exceeded their earlier target of 1,000 jerseys.
“We currently have 1,350 and are expecting more to come tomorrow because a lot of people have enquired. It looks like it will rise up to 1,500,” he said.
Ragunath added that a representative from the British High Commission and Malaysia Book of Records deputy general manager Mohamad Alex Andrew Jamuh Abdullah will also be present to witness Liverpool’s official supporters club in Malaysia attempt to become the first in Southeast Asia to do so.
“We’re looking to create history in the book of records, to become the first (supporters’) club in Malaysia to enter and would like to put it as a benchmark for others.
“No one from Southeast Asia has done this yet and that’s how we decided to come up with this jersey connection,” he said.
Liverpool FC TV (LFC TV) is aware of the event and has requested footage of the event to be aired on its official platforms.
