BUKIT JALIL: Thousands thronged Bukit Jalil Stadium here this morning for the official National Sports Day 2018 celebration.
Youths, sports enthusiasts and families began arriving at 6am for the event, which was launched by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
Also in attendance are Dr Mahathir’s wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Cabinet ministers and event organisers.
The opening ceremony saw Syed Saddiq riding a flying fox to present the event’s flag to Dr Mahathir.
Later, the Prime Minister flagged off the event’s fun ride and fun walk.
The day will see 33 sports activities being held on a massive scale, and they include an aerobic variation challenge, a fit2go workout challenge, cycling, skateboarding, BMX racing, parkour demonstrations and a mini bike autoshow.
