Mohamad Ridzuan named 2018's Best Asian Para Athlete; gets kudos from PM

KUALA LUMPUR: National Paralympian Mohamad Ridzuan Puzi, who broke the world record for the 100-metre and long jump events at the 2018 Asian Para Games, created history once again when he was named Best Asian Para Athlete (Men) for 2018, yesterday.

Bernama reported that Mohamad Ridzuan will be officially presented with the award by the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates next month.

The announcement was made via Twitter by the Youth and Sport Ministry, which added that the recognition is a major achievement by a national athlete, and will spur other national athletes to aim for greater success in future.

Last night, Mohamad Ridzuan was given a pat on the back by none other than Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“I congratulate and commend our national para athlete Mohamad Ridzuan Puzi for his achievement.

“It is a great honour and success which will make the country proud. Malaysia Boleh! #you are exceptional,” he said on Twitter.
