KUALA LUMPUR: Former national 400m hurdles champion Zambrose Abdul Rahman died on Saturday in Seremban after a courageous battle with throat cancer.
He was 76.
Zambrose represented the nation at the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games.
According to www.olympiandatabase.com, he clocked 53.2s to finish eighth in the first round.
At the 1969 SEAP Games In Rangoon (Yangon), Zambrose clocked 53.1s, edging teammate A.S. Nathan, for the 400m hurdles gold medal.
Zambrose was also part of the Malaysian quartet which won the 4x400m bronze in Rangoon.
Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican offered his condolences to his family members on his Twitter account.
