KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) put up an electrifying performance to zap Tenaga Nasional 3-2 in the Charity Shield of the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) today.
THT also claimed three valuable League points with the win at the National Hockey Stadium.
National player Faizal Saari nailed a brace with a penalty corner in the seventh minute and a penalty stroke in the 35th minute.
Arif Syafie Ishak's 40th minute penalty corner put the title in THT's cabinet.
Late goals by Najib Abu Hassan (45th minute) and Faiz Helmi Jali (52nd) could not save Tenaga.
In another match, Maybank blanked Nurinsafi Sporting 8-0 to stamp an early mark in the League.
The Tigers' goals were scored by Meor Azuan Hasan (16th, 33rd), Hafifihafiz Hanafi (29th), Haziq Samsul (36th), Kamarulzaman Kamaruddin (41st) and Najmi Farizal Jazlan (39th, 48th, 58th).
Meanwhile, Universiti Teknologi Mara got the better of TNB Thunderbolts after scoring an early goal to win 4-2.
Izad Hakimi Jamaluddin scored for UiTM in the 24th minute, and even though Syawal Razak (31st) and Zafri Afiq Azlan (39th) fought back for Thunerbolts, the Universiti side claimed victory.
Nor Azrul Rahman (50th) and Danial Asyraf (51st) made sure UiTM won full points in their opening match.
